The 2022 Jeep Gladiator offers excellent off-road handling, spacious seating, and a convenient infotainment system with excellent on-road dynamics. The 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 4×4 is a pretty good compact pickup truck. It’s highly roadworthy, just like its Jeep Wrangler sibling, and offers potent V6 gas and diesel engines, a 5-foot bed, and plenty of payload and cargo capacity. The interior is spacious and upscale, and the infotainment system is easy to use.
The 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 4×4 owes much of its off-road prowess to its high suspension with a solid axle and large tires that allow the truck to maneuver up and over obstacles without dragging its bottom over rough terrain. This sturdy setup makes for a harsh and jittery ride over uneven tarmac and allows for significant lean in corners. The steering is quick enough, and the brakes offer good stopping power, but overall the Jeep is a hard sell as a daily driver.

The 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon 4×4 has a well-rounded interior with roomy front and rear seats, an intuitive infotainment system, and a thoughtful bed design. However, the cabin lets in more road and wind noise than other trucks in its class.
The Jeep Gladiator has a 5-foot bed with relatively low sidewalls, making loading and unloading easier. The tailboard can be placed in line with the slots in the decks, making it easy to carry long flat items like plywood safely. The Gladiator’s payload figures range from 1,075 to 1,700 pounds, which is in line with most other compact pickup trucks.
Cloth upholstery and manually adjustable front seats are standard. Leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats are available.
Two complete sets of LATCH connectors and a tether anchor are provided for the rear outboard seats to be used for installing child seats. The rear middle seat also has a tether anchor. Standard features on the Jeep Gladiator include a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports, Bluetooth, an eight-speaker stereo, push-button start, and manual windows and door locks.
Available features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, satellite radio, HD radio, a nine-speaker stereo, two additional USB ports, keyless entry, remote start, power windows and door locks, and automatic climate control. The Gladiator’s touchscreen infotainment system is one of the easiest to use in the segment, thanks to its simple menus and quick responses. Well-placed controls on the dashboard make it easy to set up essential functions on the go.
The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is extremely capable off-road, boasting impressive towing and payload capabilities. The V6 engine lineup is also plenty powerful, though the Gladiator’s stiff suspension results in a stiff ride and imprecise handling on the road.
The Gladiator’s V6 gas engine is powerful and pulls the truck without a problem, but it needs to rev hard to reach maximum power, and as a result, the engine sound can be harsh after a while on the road. The turbodiesel V6 performs well and sounds more refined thanks to its abundant low-end torque. The manual transmission works well but is overshadowed by the smooth and quick-shifting automatic.
